“Medicine of the Future” Science Year
August 12, 2026 – As part of the “Medicine of the Future” Science Year, the Leopoldina is hosting two public events in Halle (Saale) on the topic of data-driven dementia prevention. Prof. Dr. Emrah Düzel, director of the Institute for Cognitive Neurology and Dementia Research in Magdeburg, will contribute his scientific expertise to these events.
Traveling Exhibition “Gender-Sensitive Medicine”

August 11, 2026 - Starting August 17, 2026, the traveling exhibition “Gender-Sensitive Medicine” will be on display at the Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection, and Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, located at Leipziger Straße 58 in Magdeburg. The official opening will take place on the same day at 12:00 p.m. and will be presided over by State Secretary Thomas Wünsch and University Professor Dr. med. Ute Seeland.

Christine Michelfeit-Schaper Will Remain Director of Nursing at UMMD
August 4, 2026 - The Supervisory Board of Magdeburg University Hospital has decided to reappoint Christine Michelfeit-Schaper as Director of Nursing and member of the Executive Board of Magdeburg University Hospital A.ö.R. for another six years. With this decision, the Supervisory Board is prioritizing continuity while also recognizing her many years of experience and professional expertise.
